Thich Nhat Hanh is one of the most revered Zen teachers in the world today. His best-selling books include Be Free Where You Are and Peace of Mind. He lives in Plum Village in southwest France. Went on girls getaway retreat and our "Zen Sister" shared this book that guides her and its purpose with us. It is so simple, so easy to read and easy to incorporate breathing and sitting technique in daily life to bring stillness and mindfulness to otherwise hectic days. It's a Rx we can all use. I've bought 6 copies and gifted to friends and family. Just reading it everyday as you practice what it teaches-- breathing, mindfulness and clearing your head---is a gift everyone deserves. Take an hour out of your life to ready it and digest it, you won't regret it. Any religion, any gender, any person who wants to quiet yourself for a few minutes each day, will benefit. Highly recommend it.

I have read many of Thich Nhat Hanh's books, and it's for good reason. Thich brings a peace and calm over me every time I read his words. This book is more of the same. How To Sit is a very easy read about meditation. How , where , when to sit is a common question among meditators. This book answer some of those questions. This isn't my favorite of his books, but at 5 bucks and 123 pages, it's a quick easy read that will have you feeling your inner Zen after reading. Take it for a spin and enjoy the meditations!

After struggling to understand the basics of mindfulness this book was a balm to my irritation. It is no surprise that Thich Nhat Hanh uses words skillfully even beautifully sometimes. In How to Sit he also unwraps the confusion I felt around meditation and made the concepts very accessible. I purchased extra copies to give to friends similarly challenged with mindfulness.

A beautiful, pocket sized treat. The words read more like poetry, but the instruction is clear. Each page is a new moment, sandwiched between simple, lovely artwork, and you will not want to put the book far from your reach. I keep it by my bed, or carry it with me in my bag, just to open it and re-read over and over. The book will offer new ideas to beginners of meditation and mindfulness, but is equally as useful to long time practitioners who can easily get jaded and need a sweet gift to get back in to the practice and out of your heads. Buy 3 copies and give 2 away!

Beautiful, short, inspiring, thought provoking, paragraphs helping one be more conscious, present and appreciative in the moment! LOVE Thich Nhat Hanh and his beautiful contribution to the planet and humanity. He has my eternal thanks.

What a lovely little book- very short, simple and compact. I recently carried this around while traveling, and found it to be very useful. I look forward to reading the other ones.

I loved this book.i must start off and say I am a busy person all in all and do not,and did not find time to meditate.My first and serious meditation was through Tich Nhat Hanh.I followed his "peace in every step" meticuliously and started meditating.I had found a way to calm myself and...in a moment.I could just sit back and breath in....and breath out.I am loyal to this practise and the current book as the others is again simplicity itself and just reminds us how to sit...sit back...breath in...breath out and enjoy

Excellent introduction to sitting mediation. Each chapter is 1 or 2 pages long, so you can pretty much open the book to any random page and read from there. It's only a few centimeters thick, so you can easily read the whole thing in one sitting.
